Welcome to Royston Primary School

"Eco Schools is an international initiative designed to encourage whole-school action for the environment. It is an environmental management tool, learning resource and recognised award scheme.

We are now one of over 2,500 schools registered with the Eco Schools programme in Scotland , and over 10% of these schools have attained the highest award level - the Green Flag."

Everyone at Royston is trying hard to be Eco-friendly and do their bit for the environment.  We have a very committed eco-group here at Royston, which meets every Tuesday after school.  We are well on our way to getting our first green flag.

Read on to find out some of the things we have been doing here at Royston.

We have our very own compost bin in our newly decorated courtyard, where we put all of our fruit waste.

Here is a picture of our compost bin!

The picture above show our newly decorated courtyard.  On sunny days we can have our lunch outside!

Each class also has a paper waste bag, so that everyone on can do their bit to recycle.

Through various Environmental Studies projects the children are made aware of their responsibilities towards the environment.

The eco-committee in the school are trying hard to encourage children to put their litter in the bin.  Special certificates are given out in our weekly assembly.

They have also created this wonderful display, again to make people aware of the litter problems.
